Yale Researcher Relates Responses to COVID-19 to a Fundamental Shift in Thinking About Immune Reactions

Professor Philip W. Askenase (photo), MD, PhD, of the Clinical Immunology Division in the Department of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine has had a letter published in the October 28, 2021issue of The New England Journal of Medicine. The letter pertains to the fundamental ways we see immune responses to COVID-19 infections and possibly the highly debilitating Long COVID Syndromes that may follow. This letter titled “Rare Skin Reactions After mRNA Vaccination Similar to Jones-Mote Basophil Responses” sounds like a reference to obscure aspects of the immune response, but instead actually reflects on fundamental aspects that are currently gaining significant attention.
