Professor Philip W. Askenase (photo), MD, PhD, of the Clinical Immunology Division in the Department of Medicine at Yale University School of Medicine has had a letter published in the October 28, 2021issue of The New England Journal of Medicine. The letter pertains to the fundamental ways we see immune responses to COVID-19 infections and possibly the highly debilitating Long COVID Syndromes that may follow. This letter titled “Rare Skin Reactions After mRNA Vaccination Similar to Jones-Mote Basophil Responses” sounds like a reference to obscure aspects of the immune response, but instead actually reflects on fundamental aspects that are currently gaining significant attention.
