Co-author Shubham Pant, MD, Professor of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology and Investigational Cancer Therapeutics at MD Anderson Cancer Center, has recently shared on LinkedIn the full text of an open-access Phase I exosome article published September 30, 2025 in Nature Communications “Engineered Exosomes with KrasG12D Specific siRNA in Pancreatic Cancer: A Phase I Study With Immunological Correlates.” Pant said he was “Pleased to share the recent publication in Nature Communications.” “This work was a truly collaborative effort between the Raghu Kalluri lab and our clinical team, focused on one of the most pressing challenges in oncology – KRAS G12D – mutant pancreatic cancer. When we launched this trial, there were almost no therapeutic studies in this space.”
“The most difficult – and humbling – part of this journey was witnessing the tremendous need, underscored by the number of patients and caregivers who reached out for trial participation.”
“I remain hopeful that the advances being made with KRAS-targeted therapies will soon translate into approved treatments, providing patients with meaningful new options.”
“There is one person who deserves special recognition – Dr. Gauri Varadhachary, who played a key role in designing this trial. Gauri was an extraordinary physician, mentor, and colleague – selfless, kind, and full of grace. She embodied compassion and excellence in everything she did.”
“Gauri, we miss your presence and light…” Varadhachary passed away in June 2021, at just 52 years of age from complications of cancer.
